Miracles do still happen in the movies, and The Princess Diaries is one of them. The Princess Diaries was released on August 3 2001, and became an instant hit. The movie follows Mia Thermopolis, who thinks she’s just an ordinary teenager. In reality, she’s a princess of Genovia. The movie starred Anne Hathaway as Mia and Julie Andrews as Queen Clarice. The movie was such a hit that a sequel was greenlit. The Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement was released in 2004.

When The Princess Diaries came out, Anne was an unknown star. The movie was her feature film debut. Since the movie and its sequel, Anne has starred in countless other hit films like The Devil Wears Prada, The Dark Knight Rises, Interstellar, Love and Other Drugs and more. She was nominated for her first Oscar in 2009 for Rachel Getting Married. She won the Oscar for Best Supporting Actress in 2013 for her performance as Fantine in Les Misérables. Julie Andrews is one of Hollywood’s most beloved stars. She played Queen Clarice Renaldi in ‘The Princess Diaries’ and its 2004 sequel. After ‘The Princess Diaries,’ Julie voiced the role of Queen Lillian in multiple ‘Shrek’ movies. She was the narrator of the 2007 film ‘Enchanted.’ Her latest live-action film role was the Head Fairy in the 2010 movie ‘Tooth Fairy.’ She has also voiced the role of Marlena in the ‘Despicable Me’ movies. Since 2020, she has voiced the role of Lady Whistledown in the hit Netflix series ‘Bridgerton.’ Julie released her memoir, ‘Home Work: A Memoir of My Hollywood Years,’ in 2019.
